Liv Morgan’s Push Due To Sasha Banks And Naomi’s Walkout
Liv Morgan’s push was born out of a need for a top women’s babyface on SmackDown.
When Liv Morgan cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase at Money In The Bank to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey, it catapulted her to the top of the women’s division.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer talked about Liv Morgan’s push. With Sasha Banks and Naomi gone, SmackDown was short a couple of top-tier babyfaces.
“Part of the reason, if not the key reason, for the recent push of Morgan was he walking out of Banks and Naomi. When they left, the idea was that Smackdown needed a new top tier woman babyface and Morgan was the one who got the pick of the draw. It’s also worked out because the fan base was ready for her.”

Liv Morgan will defend her newly won SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam next week vs Ronda Rousey while Banks and Naomi remain in contract limbo with WWE.
