UFC Fight Night: London Results – 7/23/22

It’s time, UFC London is back with another exciting card from the O2 Arena in London, England. The card is headlined by Tom Aspinall vs. Curtis Blaydes in a heavyweight war and will also feature the return of crowd favorites Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann. Lets see who walks away with the wins with the UFC London Results.

Nicolas Dalby defeats Claudio Silva via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)

Nicolas Dalby had to survive the takedown and submission threat of Silva early. Though he was taken down, he did avoid the submission threats early in round one. By the time round two cake around, Dalby had Silva on his back foot on the feet and gassed going to the corners. There was some worry that Silva wouldn’t get off the stool, but he did. Going into Round three, it was much of the same as the last, Nicolas Dalby had the crowd behind him and was just far better on the feet. He didn’t finish Silva, but he did secure a 10-8 round and picked up another victory in London, England!

Victoria Leonardo defeats Mandy Bohm via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Both of these women walked in with zero UFC victories. After losing their debuts and even a follow up fight for Leonardo, she picks up her first ever UFC victory. Victoria Leonardo used her jab on the feet and continued to threaten with takedowns the entire fight, which she did get a few times, but just couldn’t get the finish. Regardless, she kept using jabs on the feet and pressuring Mandy against the cage that ultimately won her the decision victory and secured her a first time UFC victory in the enemy territory.

Jai Herbert defeats Kyle Nelson via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Herbert walked into tonight looking to bounce back after a knockout loss at the last UFC London event in March. After clearly losing round one, he got his legs under him and came back to defend take downs, use his strikes and even some ground control on top to secure rounds two and three for him. It wasn’t easy, but Jai gets it done and the England boy rises once again and jumps back into the win column with this decision victory.

Muhammad Mokaev defeats Charles Johnson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Mokaev extends his record to 8-0 after absolutely dominating Johnson for all three rounds. Muhammad had 4:55 of control time in just round one, then two and three were much of the same. He was trying his hardest for a submission, but props to Johnson for doing a good enough job to stay out of submission threats and continue to pull himself back on his feet multiple times as Mokaev rode his back. Rough outing for the debuting Charles Johnson but Muhammad Mokaev has the grip of steel and continues to be one of the top prospects in the UFC with this dominating victory.

Jonathan Pearce defeats Makwan Amirkhani via Round Two TKO (punches)

The first finish of the night comes by way of TKO from Jonathan Pearce who’s now on a four fight win streak. Amirkhani tried to take Pearce down immediately in the first round but Pearce defended well and landed some brutal elbow strikes that cut Makwan up early. The takedown threat was still there for Pearce but he survived it heading into round two. Then, Pearce turned it up. He continued to use his elbows as his main weapon while mixing in strike combinations. He ended up on top on the ground and unloaded a barrage of strikes which had Amirkhani covered up in the corner and eventually, Pearce picked up the stoppage TKO victory. Great win from Jonathan Pearce.

Nathaniel Wood defeats Charles Rosa via Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)

Nathaniel Wood is back after two years and looked better than ever in this new weight class. This was a near shut out. Rosa got a few good shots in, but this fight was all Nathaniel for the most part. Strike combinations were fast and sneaky, his hands were looking super clean, but it was the calf kick that helped him out. Wood was tearing up Rosa’s leg like crazy, to the point where he was knocking him down nearly every time he landed a kick to the back of his calf. The crowd was all in on Wood and for good reason. He’s back in the win column after a loss in 2020 and if he keeps his performances up like this, he’s going to be a problem.

Marc Diakiese defeats Damir Hadzovic via Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)

Marc is now riding on a two win streak after a decision victory back in March, and another here tonight. This was nothing more than a wrestling clinic. Marc dominated in the wrestling area for three whole rounds. Takedown after takedown and rides it out until the end. You have to do what you have to do for a win, and Marc Diakiese got the win. It wasn’t fun, but it was effective.

Ludovit Klein defeats Mason Jones via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Dominating victory for Ludovit. Easily wins all three rounds and looked good doing it. Didn’t get the finish, but had a couple of highlight showings like a crazy karate kick that landed, but Amazon walked through it. His striking was on point tonight. He makes that two in a row now and continues his winning ways. Good way to cap off the prelims.

Volkan Oezdemir defeats Paul Craig via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Volkan gets the win after trying his best to not go to the ground. Paul continued to pull guard but after a few close submission attempts, Volkan decided to just not engage with Paul on the ground at all and picked him apart with leg kicks and jabs on the feet. Volkan was close to finishing Paul with ground and pound at one point but couldn’t get the finish. But, Volkan does get the decision win and is back in the win column after a two fight skid.

Molly McCann defeats Hannah Goldy via First Round TKO (Punches)

Meatball does it again! That’s back to back finishes for Molly in London, England. First time out, she got a spinning back elbow knockout. This time, she almost did it again. The spinning back elbow wobbled Hannah and Molly finished it off with some punches for the TKO victory. After the fight, Molly praises the crowd for getting behind her, believing she’s the first female fighter from the UK that the crowd is fully behind. She says she’s committed to the game and whenever the UFC wants to have her back, she’ll be ready to go. Molly celebrates with the crowd like only she can after the interview. Congrats, Molly McCann!

Nikita Krylov defeats Alexander Gustafsson via First Round Knockout (punches)

Nikita Krylov is coming in off of a loss last time out in London, and was on a two fight skid, but not any more. In just over one minute into the fight, Nikita gets the KO victory. He knocked Alexander down right out of the gate, Alexander fought to get back up to his feet and tried to fight back, but Nikita drops him again and gets the finish. Easy work for Krylov and gets back into the win column!

Paddy Pimblett defeats Jordan Leavitt via Round Two Submission (Rear-Naked Choke)

Paddy The Baddy is 3-0 in the UFC and is the first man to finish Jordan. Paddy had a tough go in the first round, Jordan wrestled him down and up against the cage, but Paddy did end the round on top. In the second, much of the same, Jordan goes for the takedown, but this time, Paddy lands a big knee that takes Jordan down, Paddy takes the back and traps the right arm with the leg lock while he rear-naked chokes Jordan to tap. Oh, Paddy The Baddy! After the fight, Paddy says he will fight again before the end of the year and also advocates for mens mental health, telling those who need it to talk to someone in get help. The fight was didicated to his friend who passed away this week from suicide. Rest In Peace and condolences to Paddy and the loved ones of his friend.

Jack Hermansson defeats Chris Curtis via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Jack looked the best he ever has on the feet and he needed the win tonight after losing back in February. Now, he snaps the streak of Chris Curtis with a clean performance. Jack just shut Chris down and wouldn’t let him get any striking in with his awkward movements. Jack and Chris got into it a bit after the fight, Chris was clearly frustrated with how the fight went down. During the post-fight interview, Jack apologizes to Chris and to the crowd for the fight, he says he was supposed tonight Till, but Chris stepped up and he needed a win. Jack says that Darren Till is still on his radar.

Curtis Blaydes defeats Tom Aspinall via Round One Ref Stoppage (injury)

Well, it happened again. Last week, Brian Ortega gets hurt in the fight from a freak accident. Now, it happens again. Right out of the gate, both men throw jabs, Tom Aspinall throws a leg kick, steps back, and his knee goes out 15 seconds into the fight. It’s unclear if his knee popped out of place or a possible ACL injury, but he was down for a while and stretchered out of the arena. Curtis Blaydes gets the win, but even he is disappointed in this victory. We really hate to see yet another main event ended like this. Especially for Tom in the O2 in London, England. After the fight, Curtis apologizes to the crowd.

Overall, it sucks to see yet another main event end this way. Two freak accidents in a row for back-to-back fight night cards. But, we did see a fun night of fights with Paddy the Baddy and Molly McCann both getting finishes! A big knockout and a great submission. Nikita Krylov with a knockout of his own and Jack Hermansson puts on a clinic in the striking department. We wish the best for Tom Aspinall and we’ll see you next week for some more UFC!
