Orange Cassidy Thinks AEW Are Trying To Break The Stereotypes Of What Professional Wrestlers Look Like

Orange Cassidy believes AEW are trying to change the stereotype of what a professional wrestler should look like.

AEW has a wide variety of talent on their roster of all shapes and sizes with many stars of the promotion being against the stereotype of what wrestlers should look like. In the past AEW have drawn criticism for treating stars like Orange Cassidy and Marko Stunt as threats to the bigger members of the AEW roster.

During a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con, via Absolute Geek Podcast, Orange Cassidy described how AEW aims to break the stereotype of a typical professional wrestler, and he noted that Britt Baker is a fitting example of this quest, given her legitimate career as a dentist.

“I think we’re trying to break the stereotypes of what a typical professional wrestler in the common person’s mind is. Probably like a big dumb roided-up idiot who doesn’t know what they’re doing, and I want to shatter that. Like she’s actually a dentist. She actually flies home early to actually look in people’s mouths, and she’s still a phenomenal wrestler. I think that’s, whatever that other company is doing is not helping move wrestling forward, and I think this place, we are,”

Time will tell if AEW will continue to focus on multiple different types of talent in AEW but Cassidy clearly feels AEW are a progressive company and moving the business forward.
