Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira Set to Headline UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden
The anticipated first-time MMA bout between the Middleweight champion and kickboxing rival has it’s official date.
As announced on Sports Center, Israel Adesanya will be defending his UFC Middleweight championship vs. Alex Pereira at UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Middleweight king had this to say about the announcement.
I had a conversation with my fellow GOAT Georges St-Pierre in Toronto and I’ve already leveled up. I’m looking forward to having someone who is going to attack me, who is going to try and finish me. He’s going to get knocked out or I am, you have to watch to find out.
He would go on to make a Twitter post to confirm it to the world that the anticipated bout between him and rival Pereira was set for UFC 281 in the Big Apple.
Both men were victorious when they last fought at UFC 276 in Las Vegas this year. Pereira would go on to knockout Sean Strickland to get this title shot and Adesanya would defeat Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision to retain the championship.
Earlier this week it was announced that Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler is being linked to UFC 281, this bout is also expected to be 5-rounds after the “Diamond” tweeted out the tease this week. UFC 281 in New York at MSG is looking to be huge. We will keep you updated on any more news we hear of it.
