Bruce Prichard Credits Shawn Michaels With The Idea Of Putting The New Age Outlaws Together
The New Age Outlaws can owe Shawn Michaels for suggesting the pair team up as the iconic tag team.
During the A&E Biography special on D-Generation X, WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard credited Shawn Michaels with the idea of putting Billy and Road Dogg together.
“It was Shawn. I remember Shawn coming to us and going, ‘Hey, man, get these guys out of the silly gimmicks put them together as a tag team, Road Dogg and Rockabilly. That’ll be a hell of a team,”

Unfortunately, because Shawn Michaels would retire for several years in 1998, the New Age Outlaws joining D-Generation X occurred on the very night following Shawn Michaels’ departure.
