If this is the end of the career for Aldo, he will be walking away from MMA as one of, if not the greatest Featherweight champion of all-time. He defended the UFC Featherweight gold several times in his first reign vs. Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes, Frankie Edgar, Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas before winning it a second time at UFC 200 where he defeated Edgar again. Aldo was also the youngest WEC champion at 23 years old when he defeated Mike Brown at WEC 44 in 2009.

Aldo dropped down to Bantamweight where he unsuccessfully challenged for the championship vs. Petr Yan. Despite the loss, Aldo made an impact both in the Featherweights and Bantamweights to be seen as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all-time.
