New Tag Champs, Mickie James Announcement, BFG KO Title Match Set
-To open the show, we had Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & “Big LG” Doc Gallows) defending their titles against The Kingdom/OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt TAVEN) representing Honor No More. After a good back and forth for several minutes, Taven and Bennett hit the PROTON PACK on Anderson, and TAVEN pins him for the victory’. AND NEW IMPACT WRESTLING WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPS….Mike Bennett and Matt TAVEN!! **Pretty cool that OGK won the Tag Titles in the same venue (The Factory in Dallas,Texas) where they debuted 8 months prior at Hard to Kill in January.** Also, it’ll be nice to see some new tag teams in the title picture with the Good Brothers losing the titles now.
-Then we go to a Killer Kelly vignette, where she talks about stalking Tasha Steelz. Kelly is such a bad ass and has been booked incredibly well since debuting a few weeks ago.
-Honor No More (Eddie, TAVEN, Bennett, Vincent, King, and PCO) are all hanging out backstage, praising TAVEN and Bennett for winning the Tag Titles. Eddie again teases PCO bringing the group down, before Vincent steps in and persuades Eddie to let him worry about PCO.
-Next match is “Speedball” Mike Bailey defending his X Division Title against Kenny King, representing Honor No More, being escorted to the ring by Maria Kanellis. After a few minutes of good action from Bailey and mediocre action from King, King accidentally knocks out the referee. Another referee comes down. Maria interferes and helps King roll Bailey up and holds Kings arms through the middle ropes for the successful pin fall victory. The referee signals for the bell. Honor No More comes down and celebrates in the ring with Kenny. The original referee was up and saw the interference; he instructs the ring announcer that the match is being restarted and all of Honor No More is banned from ringside. Bailey gets the pinfall to win the title back, or retain, I’m not sure which. This was a huge clusterfuck that didn’t need to end this way. On the plus side, it FINALLY gives Mike Bailey an actual story to be part of instead of just defending his title all the time.
-Brian Myers gets laid out by Bhupinder Gujjar backstage after complaining to Scott about wanting his title back. Myers is the Digital Media champion Mc but Gujjar took his title last week. Gujjar leaves it draped over him and walks away.
-Jessicka/Taya/Rosemary segment. Jessicka says she wants to go after the tag titles with one of them. Rosemary says she’s not ready yet. Taya suggests that – for her own match with Chelsea Green next wee – Jessicka can come to the ring and prove her loyalty.
-Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) interview with Gia. These guys are badass and the first ever NJPW Strong Tag Champs. They say they’re in IMPACT for world domination, to win the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles. They mention Bullet Club, and they’ll be taking on Ace Austin and Chris Bey next week.
-As soon as they walk away, the camera cuts away to Moose and Maclin talking backstage. Moose was mad that Maclin pinned him in the 6 way elimination match a few weeks ago. Maclin says this match with Sami they’ve got coming up at Victory Road, they can either align and get rid of Sami once and for all or they can do their own thing. Both men walk away in opposite directions.
-Violent By Design (VBD) segment. Eric Young talks about walking paths. Says Joe Doering has his own path. Doering fist bumps Young and walks away. Young says he has his own path to walk, if Deaner wants to follow that’s his decision. It was announced by IMPACT earlier this week that Joe would be stepping away from in ring action to battle the brain cancer that has returned.
-Mickie James announcement – it was heavily speculated she was retiring coming into it. Ends up announcing that she’s gonna go through that entire roster starting at the bottom until she gets to the champ. If she loses when she finally gets to the champ, then she’ll retire and be done for good.
-Josh Alexander interview backstage with Gia Miller (where we could hear a match going on in the background)…Eddie confronts Josh, Heath jumps Eddie.
Scott makes a match with Eddie versus Heath for next week.
-Mascara Dorada makes his IMPACT Wrestling debut and takes on a returning Alex Zayne in what Tom Hannifan announces as the match starts that it’s a #1 contenders match for the X Division title. After an incredible match, Dorada hits the Dorada Driver for the victory. Mike Bailey and Mascara Dorada are going to tear the house down whenever that match happens.
-Jordynne Grace segment with Mickie. Grace tells her she looks forward to Mickie working her way back to a title shot, and that she’ll be ready whenever Mickie has earned her shot again.
-We then cut to an incredible video package for the IMPACT Wrestling debut of New Japan Pro Wrestling talent Yuya Uemura next week.
-MAIN EVENT – Masha Slamovich takes on Deonna Purrazzo for the #1 Contender to the IMPACT Knockouts World Title shot at Bound For Glory. These 2 knockouts put on a very good match for a solid 10 minutes before Masha hit the Snow Plow and made a cover for the pinfall to win the match. Masha earned herself a shot at the title at Bound For Glory in October.
Afterwards, IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace confronts Masha, gives her a photo of her with an X through it, like Masha has given all of her victims so far. The show ends with the 2 of them staring each other down and Grace holding up her title.
