Bobby Fish AEW Exit Had Nothing To Do With CM Punk, More Details
It turns out Bobby Fish’s AEW exit had nothing to do with CM Punk, despite Fish’s wishes to fight the former AEW World Champion.
Earlier this week Fish remarked on his podcast that he would like to fight CM Punk and would even call him out for a scrap. Fish had recently left AEW as his contract had not been renewed.
Now, Fightful Select have some more details regarding Fish’s AEW exit:
Bobby Fish and AEW had entered discussions about possibly renewing his deal, and there was said to be some interest on both sides about continuing the relationship. However, the two sides couldn’t come to terms financially and parted ways. We were told that AEW thought it was somewhat amicable until Fish’s tweets about Punk/AEW. Fish remains friendly with many in the company. We’re told that there wasn’t much by the way of creative plans for him once Kyle O’Reilly’s injury happened, as well. We’ve not heard of WWE reaching out to Bobby Fish, and he hasn’t been mentioned creatively from what we’ve learned thus far. As highlighted after he left, there were also issues with Fish and CM Punk, which we’re told did not have any bearing on his contract expiring. Fish had told many that he didn’t appreciate Punk’s attitude after the match they had in October 2021.

Time will tell where Fish will end up next but he recently commented that he would go to war for Triple H.
