Three Fights To Look Out For: UFC 279

UFC Fight 279 is here and the event is headlined by Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson after the top three fights were switched all around and chaos occurred. A week ago we didn’t think this fight was possible, but here we are. Now, we’re gonna take a look at three fights you may not be looking at, but should be watching out for. It’ll be live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight and will air on ESPN+ for the prelims and Pay-Per-View for the main card. Lets take a look at some fights!

Danyelle Wolf vs. Norma Dumont

Danyelle is coming into this fight 1-0. No, that’s not a joke. Wolf picked up her first ever win and first fight back in 2020 on Dana White’s contender series where she won by decision. Two years later, almost to the day, (5 days short) she gets a crack at the big show. But, this is no easy task. Because Norma Dumont is right in front of her. Norma was on a three fight win streak before losing by decision back in May. She’s 7-2 overall with her only two losses coming from two tough title contenders. You may think, this is going to be a slaughter. But, here’s the catch. On paper, coming into your second fight against an opponent with a 7-2 record, that’s a hard feat to get past. But, for Norma, she doesn’t have much scouting on her opponent. With only one previous fight to look back at, Wolf could walk into this fight with some tricks up her sleeve that her opponent never saw coming. This is definitely an interesting one and will headline the early Prelims, don’t miss out!

Jailton Almeida vs. Anton Turkalj

This is going to be a fun one. Almeida is a 16-2 fighter with his last loss coming in 2018. He’s undefeated in the UFC at 3-0 all by way of finish and hasn’t gotten past the second round with two of the three ufc wins coming in the first round. He’s only ever went to decision one time in his career, which was one of his losses early on. If I was a betting man, I’d say we’ll see a finish in this one. Across the cage is an undefeated pro at 8-0. Turkalj, who also only ever went to decision once, has fought on Dana Whites contender series, which is where the decision happened back in July. Now, he gets to prove himself on the main show against a game opponent. I’d be surprised if we got out of the first round here, but I’d bet we definitely don’t see a third. Don’t miss these ESPN prelims!

Jake Collier vs. Chris Barnett

Big boys are ready to throw down! This is the only heavyweight fight on the card and it’ll open up the ESPN prelims at 8PM est. Jake is coming in off of a loss and looking to prove he belongs in the UFC. He has never went on a winning streak in the UFC and has back and forth wins and losses throughout his UFC career and it won’t start now. Jake is coming in off of a loss back in April, so he hopes to jump back into his winning ways and finally start to stack up multiple wins. But, he’s in for a tough task because Barnett is in the same boat and looking for a big win. Chris has three fights in the UFC. His debut was a loss, then he shocked the world with a wheel kick knockout last year before losing again in April. Both fighters are slowly sinking in this heavyweight division and need a big win to pull them back up and when you have two heavy hitters whore desperately looking for a win, fireworks will fly. I suspect we get another knockout in this fight and I can’t wait for it! Look out for this one!

UFC 279 is live on Pay-Per-View tonight at 10pm est. but, the early prelims kick off at 6pm est on ESPN+, as well as the prelims kicking off at 8pm est on ESPN+ and ESPNNews. You’re not going to want to miss the exciting night of action that we all expect it to be, especially the three fights I need you to look out for! Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz, Khamzat Chimaev, Kevin Holland, Li Jingliang, Daniel Rodriguez and so many more, this is going to be a blast! Don’t miss out!
