IMPACT Wrestling has 11 MORE stars who made the annual Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top 500 list. Let’s take a look at who’s on there:
Next half of this list starts at #70 with Alex Shelley. His tag partner, Chris Sabin, is also on this list. These two make up one of the best tag teams in the industry right now. Shelley has had some great matches both inside IMPACT and out of it. Notable matches inside IMPACT include wrestling his former protege Jay White, Maclin, and his tag partner, Chris Sabin, to get a shot at the IMPACT World Champ, Josh Alexander, at Emergence. Although he fell short it was still a great match.
At #268 we have one of the hottest talent who’s been climbing the ranks at IMPACT since coming in last year – Steve Maclin. The former military vet uses his skills to dismantle opponents both inside the ring and out of it. He’s current embodied in a feud with Moose and Sami Callihan, which will culminate in a Barbed Wire Mayhem match LIVE at Victory Road on September 23rd.
Next is #268, the one and only…one of the hottest Indian talents in the industry…Bhupinder Gujjar. He came in as a protege of Raj Singh and has really carved his own path here at IMPACT. Gujjar is set to battle Brian Myers at next weeks episode in a Ladder Match for the IMPACT Digital Media Title. Some fans want to see where this feud goes.
At #306 we’ve got 1/2 of the current IMPACT Tag Team Champions…Mike Bennett. Mike returned to IMPACT back in January with the former Ring of Honor group Honor No More with Matt TAVEN, Kenny King, PCO, Vincent, and his wife Maria Kanellis-Bennett. Since coming to IMPACT, Mikes been part of the group terrorizing the IMPACT roster, and just recently defeated The Good Brothers in Dallas, Texas to win the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Titles. It seems like these guys will be sticking around for awhile longer.
Next at #314 we’ve got current IMPACT Wrestling Digital Media Champion. Brian has been around for almost 2 years now and is also part of the Major Players tag team with Matt Cardona. Brian is taking on Bhupinder Gujjar next week on the IMPACT episode in a Ladder Match for the Digital Media Title.
At #325 we’ve got “Big” Joe Doering. Joe recently disclosed that his brain cancer came back, but before that has been a prominent member of the Violent By Design (VBD) group. Joe was part of the freed bird rule as a former IMPACT Tag Team Champion with either Eric Young or Cody Deaner. Joe was undefeated in singles competition until Josh Alexander defeated him a few months ago at the Against All Odds LIVE event. Once again, myself and the staff at Bodyslam wish Joe nothing but the best and a speedy recovery
Next up at #326 is Kenny King. King is a member of Honor No More and is currently chasing Mike Bailey’s X Division Title. I can see these two going at it again for the title very soon.
Next up, #328 is Cody Deaner. The third member of Violent By Design (VBD) who was also part of the former freebird IMPACT Tag Team Champions. Deaner is going through an identity crisis currently, so we’ll see if he sticks with VBD or goes out on his own.
At #376 is one of the pillars of IMPACT Wrestling. A former World Champion, Sami Callihan. Sami came back from injury recently and has crashed into the IMPACT scene with a vengeance. Moose is his primary target, but Maclin has seemingly aligned with Moose, and therefore, made himself a target of Sami as well. All 3 men square off at the LIVE Victory Road event on September 23rd.
Next, at #391, part of both The Kingdom and Honor No More….Vincent. He’s been part of a huge push for Honor No More to take over IMPACT. Time will tell if they’re successful, but Vincent also seems to be on the outside of the group a bit.
Finally, at #400 is the other 1/2 of the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions, Matt TAVEN. Matt could easily be a standout in the group if they reshaped their leadership. A former ROH World Champion, we haven’t seen anywhere near what Matt can do in a singles run. Hopefully that changes soon. Matt won the IMPACT Tag Titles with Mike Bennett last week from the Good Brothers.
