It’s the return of WARGAMES!
Survivor Series has been a staple in WWE for many, many years. The traditional 5 on 5 tag team match (which has seen its fair share of more or less teammates,) has long been known to go down every fall. In more recent years, the match has been for brand supremacy with a team from Raw and a team from SmackDown battling it out to see who has the better brand. But now, survivor series will see a bit of a change. Triple H sat down with The Ringer and announced that WWE Survivor Series will feature two WarGames matches, with teams now battling it out inside of a steel cage! WarGames was a WCW concept created by Dusty Rhodes back in the 80’s, which Triple H then used as a part of the NXT brand in 2017. Now, we will see WarGames as a part of the main roster for the first time.
We’ll have a men’s WarGames match and a women’s WarGames match. The tradition of the Survivor Series has ebbed and flowed and changed slightly over time, but this will be similar to that. This will not be Raw versus SmackDown. It will be much more story-line driven. I still look at it as a traditional component to Survivor Series in there because it’s large teams of people competing. We just upped the ante a little bit with WarGames and made it evolve,

For many men and women who were called up to WWE’s main roster before 2017, WarGames is a whole new ball game for them. It’ll be interesting to see who sets foot inside the steel structure.
