17 Year Old Raul Rosas Jr. Earns UFC Contract
He won and he’s in!
Raul Rosas Jr. is just 17 years of age, but he was 5-0 stepping into Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series. The kid is fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada, where the show took place, so it was basically a home-game for the young fighter. Cornered by his father who’s his coach, as well as his brother, Rosas stepped into the cage about 8 years elder, Mando Gutierrez. What seemed to be the first true tough test for the young fighter turned out to be a fantastic performance dominated his opponent for all three rounds to then pick up the unanimous decision victory. Following the fight, many speculated he may get a developmental contract being as he’s just 17, but instead, Dana White awarded Raul Rosas a full UFC contract to make him the youngest fighter in the history of UFC.
Many fans and fighters alike took to social media to tout how impressed they were with Raul. Dana White himself said that there was not even a small sense of doubt about signing the kid, saying that he was getting texts from fighters and employees that he needed to lock this kid into a deal, and that’s exactly what he did.
A confident Rosas called out many in the Bantamweight division, including the champ Aljamain Sterling. We’ll see where his confidence and skills takes him inside of the UFC.
