Pro Wrestling Legend Wants One Last Match In America
If you don’t want spoilers for AEW Rampage, don’t read any further.
As far as tonight’s AEW Rampage Grand Slam goes, there’s a surprise appearance in the opening match between House Of Black and Sting and Darby. Japanese pro-wrestling legend, The Great Muta, made a surprise appearance to save his old revival, Sting. Now, on Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was mentioned that Muta may be looking for one last match in America ahead of his retirement match in February and it could be at AEW Full Gear.
Muta is retiring with a show on 2/21 at the Tokyo Dome. He wanted to do one last match in the U.S. as part of his retirement tour. It made sense for the match to be here and for his return to be linked with Sting. Muta really made his name as a star in 1989 in WCW, with the most memorable part of that year bing a long feud with Sting. This run-in leading to a farewell match, with Full Gear seeming like the place for it, makes sense for all parties. Muta is very limited in what he can do, but he is among the most enduring stars of the last 33 years.

Could a trio’s match with Sting, Darby and The Great Muta happen at Full Gear? Or maybe Sting vs. Muta one last time. We’ll have to wait and see.
