Seth Rollins Believes Hell In A Cell Match With Cody Rhodes Repaired His Reputation As A Worker

It feels like forever ago, but during Seth Rollins’ heel run in the mid 2010’s, he began to develop a reputation for being a dangerous worker.

During this run, Rollins was responsible for several freak accident injuries. For example, Rollins would break John Cena’s nose and injure both Finn Balor and Sting also.

Now, Seth Rollins tells Ariel Helwani of BT Sport that he believes the match with Cody Rhodes inside Hell in a Cell did a great deal to repair his reputation

“You know, the thing about that situation is, it really went a long way in repairing my reputation,” he began. “I had gotten so much flak online for some injuries that had happened in matches that I was in. Whether they were caused by me directly or indirectly, is a whole different can of worms, but I think people were like, ‘Oh, maybe he does know how to take care of people in the ring.’ But it was, I think, more visually jarring than anything. Our doctors would have never let him compete if there was [risk] for further injury to the pec. Was there danger to injuring other parts of his body because of his ineptness in his right pectoral muscle? Absolutely. Was there danger for me in, you know, being in there with someone who only has one good arm? Absolutely. But again, we’re professionals, and so we can design these matches to take care of each other in ways that still create captivating stories and moments, and I think in some ways, the match may not have been as special without that visual of his completely torn, and bloody, and bruised arm, chest, and belly, and whatever was going on there. So yeah, I mean, it’s one of those things where you make the best out of it. In this situation, our best was pretty damn good that night.”

Of course, this match was the first 5 star match rated by Dave Meltzer to occur on the WWE main roster for close to the decade. Not bad when one part of the match can only lift one arm.
