WWE Prepared Travel Arrangements For Billy Gunn So He Could Appear At DX’s 25th Anniversary

More information on how close Billy Gunn was to appearing on RAW two weeks ago.

It was reported early on Friday that while there were significant attempts to bring him in, WWE and AEW could not reach an agreement for “Daddy Ass” to crossover to WWE.

Fightful Select have now provided an additional update, noting that WWE had prepared travel plans for Gunn.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer noted that Tony Khan specifically wanted mention that Billy Gunn works for AEW for him to appear, and when WWE dragged their feet on making that happen, the appearance was nixed. Fightful reported that night that WWE had at least tossed around the idea of Gunn coming in, but it got much farther than that. Fightful was told WWE had went as far as to prepare travel in Billy Gunn’s name, thinking that it was a real possibility. One of the possible solutions we’re told was a lower third graphic with an AEW logo, but WWE didn’t seem too keen on making that a reality.

Of course, Gunn would not appear in the segment. Gunn remains a pivotal part of The Acclaimed’s act in AEW.
