WWE Went “Back And Forth” On Tony Khan’s Request For Billy Gunn To Appear At DX’s 25th Anniversary

It looks like WWE and AEW did in fact try to work out a deal for Billy Gunn to appear in DX’s anniversary segment.

It was only a week and change since we saw DX celebrate their 25th anniversary. One name missing from this party was Billy Gunn, who is currently signed to AEW. It appears however that WWE and AEW were attempting to work out a deal to let Gunn appear.

Dave Meltzer reports in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Tony Khan did not request money for the appearance, settling for an on air reference to AEW.

There were in fact talks of Billy Gunn appearing for the DX reunion on Raw. WWE didn’t offer any money, and Tony Khan didn’t ask for any money. Tony just wanted WWE to mention AEW on air, WWE kept going back and forth on yes/no and at the last minute decided not to do it.

Gunn is currently managing The Acclaimed in AEW as “Daddy Ass”. Time will tell if we will see WWE work hand in hand with AEW in the future for appearances such as this one.
