It looks like talent aren’t the only ones causing bidding wars between companies.
Cathy Kelley recently returned to WWE as a backstage interviewer, a role she was in for quite some time before she left the company a few years ago. Now, she is back in the company. Elsewhere, former WWE announcer and show host Renee Paquette signed for AEW earlier this month.
Now, it appears Cathy was also on AEW’s radar. Fightful Select now report that the two parties held discussions about Kelley possibly joining the company.
Cathy Kelley returned to WWE, with the company announcing she’s rejoining as an interviewer. Fightful sources had indicated earlier this year that Cathy had conversations with All Elite Wreslting. We’re told that included speaking to Tony Khan directly at some point about the possibility of working there, and that things actually looked promising. However, that didn’t end up happening. We haven’t learned why that was the case or what side ended up keeping it from going down, or how far talks actually got. We’re told Kelley and AEW remained on solid terms before she headed back to WWE.

Of course, Kelley decided to sign with WWE and rejoin the promotion, returning at WWE Extreme Rules earlier this month.
