Tony Khan wanted to have FTR vs The Briscoes in AEW.
While speaking during the AEW Full Gear media conference, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that he tried to have FTR vs The Briscoes in AEW, but it never happened in the end. Dave Meltzer previously reported that TBS and TNT won’t allow the Briscoes on their channels due to previous Jay Briscoe’s homophobic comments from years ago.
For a long time, fans had been clamoring to see a match between FTR and The Briscoes. Finally, the two battled it out at the ROH Supercard Of Honor pay-per-view on April 1st, but that didn’t happen in an AEW ring on TBS or TNT.
That match happened to turn out as one of the best tag team encounters in recent memory. They eventually battled it out again at Death Before Dishonor in a rematch, where FTR managed to win.
