The Elite faced off against Death Triangle in match 2 of the best of 7 series for the AEW World Trios Championship this past week on Dynamite. The bout in general was exciting, as expected. Although Death Triangle picked up another win over The Elite, the match gained a lot of attention for a different reason as the match was chock full of references to CM Punk from The Elite.
During today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez stated that The Elite did not plan to take digs at CM Punk in advance. He also noted that it happened at the moment.
Alvarez explained that The Elite did some stuff on the fly that they did not plan in advance. They were just in the moment, and they went with it. “It’s not like they planned out a bunch of ways to annoy people. But do you think CM Punk did the same thing? Of course he did!”
Time will tell how this saga will continue to develop, but both parties are guilty of making jokes about the All Out incident.
