Dax Harwood Reveals When He Knew FTR Had To Leave WWE
After being underutilized to a great extent on the WWE main roster, FTR were finally granted their release by WWE back in 2020 and eventually made their way to AEW. Since then, FTR has taken over and claimed the spot as one of the world’s greatest tag teams.
While speaking to Fightful, Dax Harwood recalled the day he and Cash Wheeler asked for their WWE release. It ultimately came down to how Vince McMahon viewed tag team wrestling in general.
This is going to sound very egotistical and I don’t mean for it to, but we knew that we could do better than what we were doing, and we knew that tag team wrestling could be presented better than it was being presented.
I can’t be mad at Vince. If he doesn’t like tag team wrestling, that’s okay. Because one, that’s his company. But two, that’s okay; it’s his opinion to not like it.”

FTR are set to challenge The Acclaimed on this week’s AEW Dynamite for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. It is reported that FTR’s contracts expire in April 2023, so we will haver to wait and see if they remain in AEW, or return to WWE under Triple H.
