Carmelo Hayes On The Iron Survivor Challenge: The Crazy Thing Is, Nobody Knows What To Expect, Including The Guys In The Match

Carmelo Hayes is ready for Saturday night!

WWE NXT Deadline is this Saturday night at 8/7c on Peacock. One of this big attraction matches for the event is a brand new concept called the “Iron Survivor Challenge” which will feature Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, JD McDonagh, Joe Gacy and Axiom. In this match, Two wrestlers start the match and every five minutes another wrestler enters until all five participants are present. After the last wrestler enters, there is a predetermined time limit. Each time a wrestler scores a pinfall, submission, or being the victim of a disqualification, they gain a point and the wrestler they pin, submit, or who is disqualified then goes into a penalty box for 90 seconds. The winner of the match is the wrestler who scores the most falls at the end of the time limit. Recently, Carmelo Hayes sat down with WrestleBinge by Sportskeeda to talk about NXT Deadline. He was asked about his feelings towards entering this new matchup and this is what he had to say.

I feel good, the crazy thing is, nobody knows what to expect, including the guys in the match. So, we’re hoping for the best. You know, I understand the rules now. It took a little bit to get the rules down but we got 25 minutes, get the most pin falls, don’t pinned, don’t get put in the penalty box. Get put in the penalty box, you lose opportunities to get pins. Pretty cut and dry. So, I think I got it down. But, the challenge is crazy in this match too, so I, you know, I’m not taking it lightly but I’m excited and I’m ready.

This new match concept could be the first of many in NXT. We’ve seen matches like War Games and Spin the wheel, make a deal return on NXT and now, the Iron Survivor Challenge could be the newest one to be a staple in NXT. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes this Saturday live at NXT Deadline!
