Carmelo Hayes Talks About Shawn Michaels Comparisons And Mentioning ‘Stunt On These Hoes’ To Him

Carmelo Hayes and Shawn Michaels are very close.

Carmelo Hayes has often been compared to Shawn Michaels who is a legendary superstar in WWE and now helps run NXT. While sitting down with WrestleBinge by Sportskeeda, Carmelo Hayes was asked about his relationship with Shawn and the comparisons to a young Shawn Michaels.

Shawn and I are very close. He, every time I talk to him I learn something new. He says things that I’ve heard in ways that I haven’t heard if that makes sense. Like, he says certain things that are, that click to me differently then in a certain way, cause he’s experienced it, you know, he’s done everything in this business, so, it’s like, when he talks it’s gospel. You know, you listen to this man and you’re like “oh yeah, you know what you’re talking about” So, I’ve learned so much. So, him and I are very close. As far as like the comparisons, i have, naturally I do have like, the attitude and he likes that about me, you know, and I’m very much, not that I can be a pain in the ass, but I know what I want and I think he respects that about me and I know, and I trust myself and I have so much confidence in myself and you know, I’ll fight for it and you know, sometimes it’s been said like, sometimes he has to pull me back. Sometimes he has to, I guess his biggest thing is protect the talent from themselves and sometimes he has to tell me no. Sometimes he has to tell me slow down, type of thing. But, I think overall it’s he sees himself in me at the end of the day where, he was that passionate as a young guy too.

Carmelo went on to talk about a scenario where he had to put his foot down to Shawn.

My biggest thing is, I wanna be true to people, how people that look like me talk, how people that look like me dress, you know what I mean, like that was very much something that I’m passionate about. Just being pretty much myself and doing something so outside the box of pro wrestling. That was my biggest thing, I didn’t want to do pro wrestling and I think that my vision was a lot of times bigger than what a lot of people saw, you know, until I had to explain it, where it was like, I wanna do something where if you don’t watch pro wrestling, you tune in and you’re like “oh who are these guys? These guys are freaking cool, like these guys look like me, these guys talk like me, these guys act like me.” It’s things like that, cause there’s a lot of times where I wanna say certain things, which can be a little edgy, you know what I mean, and it can be a little bit on the cusp of like, you know, is this okay for TV? But, never disrespectful or never cruel or anything, but, just kind of like a little bit of bite to it and Shawn sometimes he doesn’t know. You gotta remember, he’s in his 50’s and you know, I’m a young guy and I’m around this, you know what I mean, it’s like hey, when I wanna say “Stunt on these hoes” and he doesn’t understand what stunt on these hoes means, or “Rest in piss,” it’s been a lot of that where it’s like “what does that mean? Is that murder?” But, he refuses to believe that he was cool. I said “Shawn, you were the coolest dude ever. Ever. Like EVER!” So, that’s why him and I, you know, we relate on a lot of those things, like just let me be edgy, I know you don’t get it, but people will, I promise.
