More Information On William Regal’s AEW Exit
The latest in the saga related to William Regal leaving All Elite Wrestling.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, sources were correct that Regal did have an opt-out on February 24th. However, Tony Khan had an opt-out on December 22nd. So the contract expired before Regal could depart without Khan’s approval, but Regal could have gotten out of it just two months later.
William Regal will be silent once he joins WWE, and his final podcast will air this week. He revealed that Regal had not taped a new podcast since November. He said that despite Regal’s absence, Bryan Danielson talked heavily about him on Dynamite to promote his upcoming title match with MJF.
Just to clarify the William Regal leaving stuff is that WWE sources were correct that Regal did have an opt out on 2/24 but Tony Khan had an opt out on 12/22. So the contract did end before Regal could leave it without Khan’s permission, but Regal could have gotten out of it just two months later. The impression I have is that Regal will be going quiet once he starts with WWE and his final podcast airs this week. He didn’t actually tape a new podcast since November. Even though Regal is gone, Bryan Danielson talked heavily about him on Dynamite to build for his upcoming title match with MJF. No date was announced for the match.
