Booker T Believes AEW Fans Are Paranoid And “Like A Cult”
The advent of social media can be seen as both a blessing and a curse. While social media has allowed fans to be closer to their favorite pro wrestlers in a way they never could have before, it has also brought about rampant toxicity to a huge degree.
This is especially the case when it comes to tribalism in pro wrestling. While speaking on his Hall Of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T talked about tribalism in pro wrestling. One fan stated that AEW fans are like a cult, to which Booker T simply agreed.
“You know, I agree 100 percent. I wouldn’t say all of them, I’m not going to say all of them, but a lot of them. Sometimes they’re just looking for it. It’s like being in a relationship, you know where you got one of those girlfriends that’s just looking through your phone all the time, just looking for something … making up excuses to have a fight, stuff like that, that’s the way AEW fans are.
You could be talking about something totally irrelevant to AEW and they’re like, ‘Wait a minute, he’s talking about AEW, did he say Kenny Omega?’ It’s that kind of stuff, it’s like they’re paranoid. Relax, no one’s thinking about AEW that much enough to where we’re going to try to talk in code about it.”
Booker T on Hall of Fame Podcast
AEW will continue to do things their own way and their dedicated fan base will defend the product no matter what. However, it is likely there will be quite a few people who will end up disagreeing with what Booker T said.
