Update On Why Jim Ross Was Absent From AEW Tapings This Week
Fans noticed that Jim Ross was not present during the December 30th edition of Rampage, which will air this week. Despite AEW taping the show on the 28th, not everyone was present during the tapings.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan simply let Ross have the week off. It was further noted that good ol’ JR will be back for next week’s show.
“Jim Ross was not on the taped Rampage show this week, as the broadcast team was Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight. It’s not anything significant. Tony Khan gave Ross the week off so he could attend the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando with his favorite University of Oklahoma vs. Florida State. He’ll be back for the show in Portland this coming week.”

AEW Rampage will feature two title matches, as Orange Cassidy is set to defend the All-Atlantic Title against Trent Beretta, and Kiera Hogan to challenge for Jade Cargill’s TBS Championship.
