On the December 30th, 2022 edition of SmackDown, Gunther was legitimately injured during a dark match after the live taping. According to reports from those in attendance, the injury occurred when Gunther was thrown against the ropes, causing him to land awkwardly and hurt his leg.
PW Insider reports that the Intercontinental Champion is okay, but the extent of Gunther’s injury is not yet known. It was serious enough to cause the match to be stopped and Gunther to be taken to the back for evaluation. It is unclear at this time how long Gunther will be out of action, but fans are hopeful that he will make a full recovery and return to the ring soon.
During SmackDown, GUNTHER would sucker in the Monster Of All Monsters, Braun Strowman and would apply a submission hold on Strowman, refusing to let go of the hold.
