Dax Harwood On The Acclaimed: I Was Completely Wrong. I Was Blown Away. Blown Away By Both Of Them
They could’ve held four titles, but didn’t.
FTR, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, held the IWGP, AAA and ROH Tag Team Titles simultaneously. Many fans believed that they’d also end up with the AEW Tag Titles to add the last gem stone to their infinity gauntlet. But, that didn’t end up happening, though they did battle for the belts and lost. On the upcoming episode of FTR Podcast with Dax Harwood, he spoke about not getting the AEW titles and if it was important for him to add the titles to the collection.
I think that would’ve been a cool moment. But, at that time, again, I hate giving away the magic but I got to get with the times I guess, that was Cash and I’s idea, the match with The Acclaimed. We wanted to have that match with them because I felt whenever we were at our most popular in the summer, the opportunity was missed with us, you know. I felt that, and you know, I’ve expressed this to Tony and we’ve had talks and he has his reasons and actually, when he explained his reasons, they were good reasons. But, I felt like our opportunity was missed and there was a time where we could have went over the threshold and there would’ve been a opportunity to make us not just the top babyface tag team, but man, maybe the top babyface act in the company or right up there with Punk and Mox, you know. We should have, of course I feel this way because we’re all egotistical in someway, i felt like we should have been the team to topple one of the top heels of the company and that would’ve sent us over the top. I felt like we could’ve helped the company in that aspect but it never happened. So, I wanted to do that, or, we, Cash and I wanted to do that for The Acclaimed we wanted to give them an incredible wrestling match and it was two babyfaces, also at the same time being toe babyfaces, two polar opposites. One team is full of energy and full of life and oozing charisma, rapping to the ring and you got the other team with this guy here who’s a 38 year old male, balding, mustache, all the typical stuff, completely total opposites. But, I wanted to give them a great match and we wanted to make sure they were looked at as the top tag team in the company.

Co-host Matt Koon continued to ask about the Acclaimed, comparing them to the Free Birds.
Yeah, so, I thought the same as you did. I didn’t make the correlations of the free birds, but, I thought the same thing. I was like okay we have this guy who’s a pretty decent worker in Bowens and we got a guy who’s very charismatic on the mic in Max Caster. Then, this match with The Acclaimed, we got in the ring with both of them and I was completely wrong. I was blown away. Blown away by both of them because Bowens was more than a decent wrestler, he was, he’s incredible. I was, I don’t want to say I was surprised, because that makes me sound like I had rated him low, because I didn’t. [Koon mentions he exceeded expectations] Right, then, I got in there with Caster and man, wow, he, I don’t think, because he’s so good on the mic with his raps and stuff, people don’t understand how good he is in the ring and I think we gave him that opportunity and I don’t mean that egoistically, I don’t mean just we did, but that match gave him the opportunity to show his wrestling chops and whoa, he was, he kept up with us. He was very good. Incredible.
