WWE Seeking Out Protective Order To Stall Lawsuit
MLW launched a Lawsuit last year against WWE.
WWE was hit with an Antitrust Action Lawsuit by MLW after MLW claimed a possible streaming/television contract with Tubi and Vice TV was allegedly interfered with due to WWE. Now, in 2023, WWE is still trying to keep this lawsuit from going anywhere.
According to an update from PWInsider, WWE filed a motion on January 5th with the United States District Court, Northern District of California, to reveal that the company is seeking a protective order to suspend discovery in the lawsuit. This order would suspend World Wrestling Entertainment’s obligation to find and produce materials that Major League Wrestling requests in the lawsuit. WWE contends that the process of going through all of the documents that MLW has requested could cost them millions of dollars and if the lawsuit is dismissed, that amount of money would only be wasted. WWE is further arguing that the Court should grant their request because it is uncertain as to whether they hold jurisdiction over the case and until that is decided, discovery should be suspended. There is a hearing set for May in the case for the time being, so we will have to wait and see how the case will turn out.
