The Iron Claw Officially has Golden Globe Winning Talent
In what was arguably one of the biggest surprises of the night, Jeremy Allen White took home his first Golden Globe for Best Performance in a TV Musical or Comedy for his role as Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in FX’s The Bear. The critically acclaimed series follows a young chef’s return home to Chicago to take over the family’s sandwich shop following the suicide of his older brother (played in flashbacks by The Punisher’s John Bernthal).
White was up against quite a stacked category, with fellow nominees being Donald Glover (Atlanta), Bill Hader (Barry), Martin Short and Steve Martin (both for Only Murders In The Building).
Best known for his role as Phillip ‘Lip’ Gallagher in Showtime’s Shameless, the 31-year-old talent is cast in the Von Erich biopic The Iron Claw as Kerry Von Erich, better known to wrestling fans as The Texas Tornado. The movie also stars Lily James, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film for her portrayal of Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy.
The Iron Claw, which is being produced and distributed by A24, started principal photography in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in October 2022. While it does not appear that filming has wrapped, the movie is slated for a 2023 release.
