AEW Made Multiple Attempts To Debut The Briscoes
When Tony Khan acquired Ring of Honor and signed The Briscoes under the ROH banner, fans had renewed hope. However, the brothers were still prevented from appearing on AEW’s Dynamite and Rampage due to the broadcaster’s reluctance.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, quite a few attempts were made to get the Briscoes on AEW television, including getting them to compete at All Out last year. However, it remained unfulfilled.
“This past year there were many attempts to get them on the show. They were actually flown in a few times to television, but they weren’t allowed to be used.
There were plans for them on the 9/4 All Out show in Chicago, to be in a six-man tag with FTR & Wardlow vs. The Briscoes & Jay Lethal. But without being able to promote it on television and because the broadcast partners didn’t want them on AEW broadcasts, the decision was made to bring the Motor City Machine Guns in out of nowhere to team with Lethal.”
WON
When AEW debuted back in 2019, many fans believed The Briscoes would immediately join the company. Unfortunately, as time went on, a deal between the Briscoes and AEW remained unfinished due to reluctance from AEW’s broadcast partner Warner Bros. Discovery to allow them to appear on television, stemming from homophobic remarks made by Jay Briscoe in the early 2010s.
The Briscoes also once turned down low-money deals with WWE. Dem Boys will forever be remembered for all they have done for the industry, and that is all that matters.
