In 2020, Matt Cardona was released by WWE as part of the budget cuts stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Cardona has appeared for AEW, Impact Wrestling, GCW, and NWA. Cardona is currently signed to a full-time deal with Impact Wrestling.
On January 19th, Matt Cardona filed for trademarks on “WOO WOO WOO. YOU KNOW IT” for merchandise, toys, and entertainment purposes. The catchphrase is associated with the Zack Ryder gimmick.
Matt Cardona applied for the trademarks with the help of “Gimmick Attorney” Michael E. Docking. The fact that Cardona is attempting to secure his old WWE gimmick-related trademarks could be a legitimate hint at his potential return to Vince McMahon’s company.
