Johnny Gargano Remembers The Time He Wrestled In A Prison
It looks like Dominik isn’t the only one to know what its like to be a pro wrestler behind bars in WWE today.
Johnny Gargano has wrestled all over the world on the independent circuit before shooting to stardom in NXT thanks to his run in WWE’s developmental brand. He would later leave the company in 2021, but returned in 2022 to an incredible reaction.
Speaking on Beat of Sports, Gargano reflected on visiting prison to wrestle.
“I (wrestled in) an actual prison. Before my time in WWE, I was an independent wrestler, so I would wrestle on a bunch of random shows here and there. They had a show booked in a prison. I’ve wrestled multiple times in prisons, which is a wild crowd. Wild environment. They ran a wrestling show in the middle of the yard where they had all their activities and stuff like that. ‘Hey, come watch a wrestling show,’ and we wrestled in a prison. It was wild,”

Perhaps Gargano can give Dominik Mysterio a few pointers but for now, Gargano is set to compete in the Elimination Chamber match for the United States Championship next weekend.
