Mercedes Mone Is Making Less In NJPW Than She Could Have Made In WWE Or AEW
Mercedes Mone is not only wrestling for a monetary incentive anymore.
Mone is set to challenge KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley in San Jose on February 18. In addition to that, she has more matches in Japan coming up.
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that Mercedes Mone did not get a deal similar to Chris Jericho, but is still getting solid payment.
“The story that was going around that Mercedes Mone was making more than Chris Jericho made here is incorrect. It’s not even close. The money is not at the level she could get with WWE or AEW.
It’s certainly very good money on a per appearance basis, but that would tell you she’s doing it for the experience and “bucket list” idea of wanting to at one point in her prime work against the top Japanese women wrestlers in Japan.”
WON
It remains to be seen if Mone will end up beating KAIRI for the title this month, as fans would love that to happen, but for now she will continue to prepare for the biggest women’s match outside of the WWE umbrella in a long time.
