Beth Phoenix Says She Has To Keep Control Of Her Killer Instinct Outside Of WWE
After a 13-month hiatus from the ring, Beth Phoenix made her return to the squared circle this past weekend at WWE Elimination Chamber. Phoenix tagged with her husband Edge to take on The Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor. The Grit Couple emerged victorious as Phoenix nailed Balor with the Shatter Machine for the win.
At the post-show press conference for WWE Elimination Chamber, Beth Phoenix discussed her return to in-ring action. The Glamazon addressed the complexity of sporadically returning for performances now that she’s no longer an active, full-time Superstar.
“I knew I had to put in the extra hours, the consistency in the gym to be able to stand toe to toe and bring it because it’s difficult. At home, I am a mom, I spend a lot of my time raising our children, taking them to school, being soccer mom, and it’s kind of compartmentalizing the killer instinct that you need to get in the ring and do what we do.”

Beth Phoenix was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class Of 2017. Her induction made her the quickest female to be inducted after her retirement from wrestling. After hanging up her boots, Phoenix switched to commentary and worked as a full-time NXT commentator from 2017 to 2021. Now she is back for a short stint in WWE, but she has a unique roster listing.
