Former Tough Enough Winner Accuses Triple H Of Preventing Him From Being Pushed
Maven, who won the first season of Tough Enough in 2001 alongside Nidia Guenard, went on to join WWE. He competed as an active wrestler for almost four years, during which he held the Hardcore Championship on four occasions. In July 2005, he was released from his contract with the Stamford-based company.
While speaking on Cafe de Rene, Maven talked about his time in WWE. He then accused Triple H of preventing him from getting a push in WWE.
“Listen, who the hell knows? I have my theories. My theory is just Hunter didn’t like me. I actually got confirmation of this at one of the signings I did just a few months ago from Sarge [Sgt Slaughter]. Sarge pulled me aside and I’m catching up with Slaughter and he was like, ‘Maven, I always fought for you.’ It’s like, ‘always fought for you in the writers’ meetings.’ And he was like, ‘there’s one guy holding you back.’ (…) I was like, ‘Sarge, who was it?’ He was like, ‘ahhh I don’t want…’ And I’m like, ‘was it Hunter?’ And he’s like, ‘yeah.’ I was like ‘that motherf**ker,’”
“And for what? Like I’ll never understand it because what did I like threaten him? Like I’ll never understand it. I did nothing but put him over in every… I’ve never did nothing but talk amazing. He’s one of the best wrestlers I’ve ever seen. He’s an amazing character and positioned himself smart in the company. Like what am I gonna do to threaten you in any way? I just never could understand that
Maven
Maven has not wrestled in any capacity since 2016, after which he transitioned into working in finance. Perhaps it is too little too late when it comes to him making a return to WWE, but anything is possible.
