The Undertaker’s Pro Wrestling Debut Came About Due To Him Looking Like A Hall Of Famer
The Deadman was a fixture of WWE television for over thirty years, and he continued to be a highlight of WWE television since the early 90s. He finally retired at Survivor Series 2020 and even got inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame last year.
Back in 1987, The Undertaker attended several World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) events with the hope of securing an opportunity. The promotion’s booker, Fritz Von Erich, was struck by the then-rookie’s resemblance to his late son David, who had tragically passed away in Japan in 1984.
While speaking on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, The Undertaker stated that Fritz Von Erich told fellow WCCW official Bronko Lubich to book him on a show due to his similarity to David.
“Fritz had this really deep, gravelly voice. He was like, ‘Who’s that kid out there?’ He [Lubich] is like, ‘He’s been coming here for weeks. He’s trying to get booked.’ I heard him say it. I was like [eyes wide open]. He goes, ‘Book him Friday night. He looks just like David.’ I was much bigger [than David Von Erich], but my hair, my face and everything, I looked like him.”

We will have to wait and see what’s next in store for the WWE Hall Of Famer, now that he is retired for good.
