Omos WWE’s Backup Opponent For Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania Due To Stone Cold Steve Austin Rejecting Lesnar Match

It appears Omos was not WWE’s original plan for WrestleMania and came about due to a Hall Of Famer rejecting the Brock Lesnar matchup.

Ringside News was able to confirm that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was the original WrestleMania 39 opponent for Brock Lesnar. The Texas Rattlesnake isn’t doing that match, which he told the company. That forced them to figure out something else.

A tenured source in the WWE creative team also told us that, “Omos was not the original back-up to the Austin match.” In fact, “there have been several back-ups pitched all around, and this is the one that got put on the card.”

WrestleMania 39 is going to be a huge event, with two nights jam-packed with pro wrestling. Only time will tell how Brock Lesnar vs Omos turns out, but this was the match that they decided to go with after weighing several options.
