Ric Flair Had Backstage Heat With Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn joined WWE in 2013 after honing his skills on the independent wrestling scene. He spent close to two years in developmental before making his main roster debut in 2015. Since then, he has become one of the most popular and recognizable stars in the company.
However, during his earlier days in WWE, the former Honorary Uce managed to create some backstage tension with certain individuals. This included the likes of Ric Flair as well.
While speaking on an episode of his Wooooo Nation Uncensored podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair revealed that he had personal issues with Zayn. According to Flair, the only person that the former Bloodline member could beat was actor Johnny Knoxville.
“That’s [Knoxville] the only guy on the roster that Zayn could probably beat. If he [Zayn] gets heat with me, he’s got to get heat with the marks.
“For me, personally, when I got to make small talk to get along with Sami Zayn… that’s all I’ve got to say. When I got to walk through to make small talk… with Kevin Owens — who is 10 times the performer and a great guy – who understands and respects who I am; and Sami Zayn kind of easing around in the hallway and I got to make small talk to connect with him, he’s done in my book.”

Flair’s comments suggest that he found it challenging to communicate with Zayn backstage, whereas he had a positive relationship with Zayn’s real-life best friend and fellow wrestler, Kevin Owens.
