WWE Interested In Another AEW Star With An Expiring Contract
It was previously reported that Brian Cage’s AEW contract is set to expire very soon. Fightful Select now reports that his deal is set to end “imminently.” It seems that there were “some hiccups” in that process.
The report went on to say that AEW hoped to extend Brian Cage’s deal, when he was out of action due to injury. That being said, Cage wasn’t having that, so he “pushed back” and “was interested in exploring free agency.” It was further noted that WWE is interested in Brian Cage’s services. They can only do something about it if he becomes a free agent.
Fightful Select has been told that WWE has maintained interest in Cage in the event he becomes a free agent, and are open to having conversations with the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion. That period won’t have to wait long, as we’re told AEW and Cage agreed to work together through the end of March, specifically the ROH Supercard of Honor PPV.
We’re told that some of the time that was supposed added to Cage’s contract is actually because Cage was signed while injured after leaving IMPACT Wrestling years ago. Those familiar with the situation claim that AEW offered Cage a contract extension comparable to his current deal, which hasn’t been ruled out.

We will have to see what happens with Brian Cage in the upcoming months. If AEW won’t put him on television, then WWE might be able to facilitate that for him.
