Brock Lesnar Was Originally Not Coming Back After WrestleMania 36
During WrestleMania 36, an event that took place with strict COVID-19 protocols in place, Brock Lesnar lost the WWE Title to Drew McIntyre at the show of shows with no fans present, and then Lesnar went home. Drew McIntyre carried the WWE Title for months after that, doing his signature pose as WWE Champion without anyone there to cheer him except for developmental talent.
During an interview with Faction 919, Paul Heyman explained how he became Roman Reigns’ Wise Man. In the process, he also revealed that Brock Lesnar was “done” with WWE after that WrestleMania match at the WWE Performance Center.
“Nobody approached me on that. Brock Lesnar’s contract was up in April or May (…) 2020. After the match with Drew McIntyre in that WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar went home to Saskatchewan. He was done in WWE, he wasn’t coming back. My calendar was open, and so was Roman Reigns.”

Drew McIntyre is in line for a possible Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania, but he will have to battle for that title. Only time will tell if Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar ever meet in the ring again, but it certainly made for an interesting WrestleMania moment.
