The American Nightmare has been on a roll since he returned during the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. He entered as the last entrant in the Royal Rumble match and ended up winning the whole thing.
Afterwards, he chose Roman Reigns as his opponent for WrestleMania 39. Right after that, he engaged in a war of words with Paul Heyman, further intensifying their upcoming feud.
Rhodes also had a promo battle with The Tribal Chief earlier this month. While speaking to Ariel Helwani on BT Sport, The Undertaker stated that he believes Cody Rhodes is the right person to dethrone Roman Reigns.
At this point, it’s gotta be the right person and one, it’s gotta be somebody that you trust and you know is not gonna flake off and do something because there’s a lot of time and money invested in this whole thing at this point. I think Cody [Rhodes] with the momentum that he had, I think that would be the logical guy, and Sami’s a dark horse… It’s gotta be somebody that they have a lot of faith in and knows is going to be here for the long haul.”

It remains to be seen how WrestleMania 39 pays off for Cody Rhodes. He has the biggest match of his career ahead of him against Roman Reigns, and he is definitely not lacking in confidence ahead of the bout.
