The company announced today that they are going to make a return to MSG on July 7th for a live SmackDown broadcast. This return to the World’s Most Famous Arena will air live on Fox.
MSG is a great venue, and there is plenty of history, but it is expensive. They must use union labor, and tickets are also very high. It seems that they are going to make a return to MSG in July, so we should expect a big show to draw a crowd.
The last time WWE ran television from MSG was in 2022 for the go-home RAW before SummerSlam. That was also their 20th anniversary celebration. It was quite a big night, but the last SmackDown that aired from MSG was the Super SmackDown in September 2021.
We will have to see how WWE looks in July. For all we know, the company could be under different ownership. The Ticketmaster pre-sale for SmackDown at MSG is going on now with the SMACKDOWN passcode.
