AEW came into existence back in January 2019 and has managed to make a mark in the pro wrestling industry. The promotion promised to provide an alternative product to that of WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded in their goal.
Many people see AEW as direct competition to WWE. In fact, even AEW President Tony Khan feels the same. That being said, Kenny Omega himself feels differently on the matter.
While speaking with CBC Radio, Kenny Omega went into detail about the platform that AEW gives talent. The former AEW World Champion stated that AEW was never meant to compete with WWE in any way.
“I think it has allowed for just, I would say, more variety,” Omega added. “And that’s why I’ll never say that we went into this to compete with WWE. I just want to give people the option to see things that are different stories that you might not be able to see there.”

We’ll have to wait and see what Kenny Omega will do once his AEW contract expires next year.
