Pat McAfee hasn’t been hard to find since leaving WWE. He appeared for College GameDay and other sporting broadcasts. He also has his super successful podcast.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Pat McAfee’s current situation. It seems that since ESPN wants him so bad, that might throw another wrench in any plan to make a WWE return. That being said, Pat McAfee also has a ton of money and doesn’t need WWE.
The deal is that ESPN is trying to get him, land him for a regular gig there. As far as wrestling goes, I guess, you know, I don’t think he’s gonna be back as a weekly character. Wade Barrett said last week that he is under the impression that he is permanently in that spot, and you know when Pat started the football, he was gonna be back after football season, and obviously, football is over, and you know, Pat’s got a lot of things going on in his life. He’s got a kid.
He’s making so much money from his show. It makes no economic sense for him to do wrestling, because no money can measure it with what he was making elsewhere. He loved doing it, which is why he did it for a long time.

It would be great to see Pat McAfee back in WWE, and that’s not out of the question. For all we know, Triple H has plans for McAfee to surprise fans by sitting in for WrestleMania’s commentary team, which would excite fans to hear McAfee’s signature enthusiasm throughout the show of shows. So far, that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
We will have to wait and see when Pat McAfee makes his return to WWE. If anything, he certainly doesn’t need the money.
