Wheeler Yuta vs. Katsuyori Shibata Official For ROH Supercard Of Honor 2023
A legendary showdown is set to happen this Friday.
Tony Khan announced that Katsuyori Shibata will challenge Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure Championship at the pay-per-view on March 31.
Yuta recently challenged Shibata to a match, as he called the legend out o the March 16 episode of ROH TV. In recent weeks, Yuta has retained the title against Timothy Thatcher and Clark Connors.
Due to a subdural hematoma, Shibata retired in 2017, and he became the head trainer of NJPW’s LA Dojo.
He returned to the ring at NJPW G1 Climax 31 Finals, where he faced Zack Sabre Jr. in an exhibition bout. Shibata subsequently faced Ren Narita at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16 in 2021.
Shibata then challenged Orange Cassidy for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship on the November 11 episode of AEW Rampage and faced Tom Lawlor at the Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye x Ganryujima event on December 28.
