Jon Moxley Says He “Bent Over Backwards” To Make CM Punk Happy
CM Punk recently sent out a scathing Instagram post, that was soon deleted. He told his own narrative about what happened at All Out, and Moxley took shots. This is when Jon Moxley used the fact that his wife has a wildly successful podcast to his advantage.
While speaking on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Jon Moxley continued to unload on his past few months in AEW. He explained that he could have walked out of AEW as his contract expired, and he would have been AEW World Champion. This could have seen him walk into SummerSlam with the biggest title in All Elite Wrestling over his shoulder. That didn’t happen, and he stayed with AEW and continued doing business.
“Pretty quickly I was like, ‘Man, actually, being sober’s awesome, this is fantastic, I’m having so much fun’. I was working with my friends, Blackpool Combat Club, me and Bryan (Danielson) and sh*t, f*cking (William) Regal, this is great. They’re talking to me about signing a new thing and I was like, ‘If everything just stays exactly as it is right now, I’ll be here forever’. You can pay me in cash in an envelope at the end of the night, I don’t give a f*ck.
“But I can’t tell you what I’m gonna feel like in six months, especially not in three years, or five years. And once I make a commitment, then I will push through injuries, and I will push myself too hard, and I will do all these things that add up, and leads you down the road or whatever. So I was not in a hurry to make any kind of grand commitments at first.
“That being said, during this time period, the night that ‘what’s his dick’ (CM Punk) is talking about in Minneapolis, the night he came back and was hopping out on one foot, bumping around Inner Circle or whatever after me and Jericho wrestled – a badass match by the way.
“I basically don’t work there. For all intents and purposes, I don’t even work here. Tony (Khan) is not my boss. I don’t even have to be in this room. I don’t have to do sh*t. So even me being in this room and offering – and agreeing to – a storyline, that puts you over at the pay-per-view, if anything, I’m bending over backwards. For Tony. And for this dude (Punk). And for the company and everybody.
“I didn’t have to. I didn’t have to do s**t. If anything, I was bending over backwards. So, that’s it.”
Jon Moxley
We’ll have to see if CM Punk and Jon Moxley ever meet again, in or out of the squared circle. There are apparently some people in the AEW locker room who don’t want to see CM Punk back, and that number is becoming a majority.
