Finn Balor vs Edge Ended Early Due To Blood Incident

WrestleMania 39 is in the books, and it was a historic event. The final night of the show of shows ended a bit earlier than the previous, and there is a good reason for that.

Finn Balor was busted open during his Hell in a Cell match against Edge at WrestleMania Sunday. The Rated R Superstar hurled a ladder at Balor and the sharp metal sliced him open. After that, ringside medics scurried around to stop the bleeding.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Edge and Finn Balor wrapped up their Hell in a Cell match quicker after Balor was busted open. This explains why they were rushed, and also why WWE took their time before the main event.

They were supposed to go longer. They were rushing through the rest of it. I think that might have been one of the reasons they took so much time between matches. Balor was cut, and they don’t wanna show blood, so they basically stopped the match […] it was a lot more blood, but people didn’t realize it because of the makeup.

WrestleMania Sunday was over several minutes before WrestleMania Saturday. It seems that they had extra time to burn, because the Hell in a Cell match needed to wrap up quicker than initially planned.

It will be incredibly interesting to see if WWE’s no blood rule goes away with a company sale. After all, Endeavor sees nothing wrong with showing blood during UFC events, in fact, a lot of fans watch it for that brutal reason.
