WWE Issues Apology For Using Auschwitz Image In Prison Dom Promo, Claim Ignorance
WWE have issued an apology over using footage of the concentration camp during the WrestleMania 39 kickoff show.
The Auschwitz memorial issued a tweet earlier this week, condemning WWE’s usage of the historically tragic location, citing it is not to be used for entertainment.
In a statement to the Washington Post, WWE apologized and said they had no knowledge of what the image depicted in the promo, claiming ignorance.
“We had no knowledge of what was depicted,” the statement said. “As soon as we learned, it was removed immediately.”

The promo was changed before it would air on the main show of WrestleMania 39, but fans were still quick to criticize the company. This is the latest in a long list of Nazi references on WWE programming, which are consistently explained as accidents or coincidences
