Tony Khan may be allowing teases for a reason.
It is not uncommon in AEW to see talents tease leaving by suggesting they may be going to or returning to WWE while contract talks are being discussed. Most notably, this applies to AEW World Champion and AEW tag team champions MJF and FTR, who have teased plenty in the past about leaving for WWE in the future.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer put forward a theory as to why Tony allows his talent to make these teases.
The only thing I can think of why Tony Khan allows his talent to do this teasing going to WWE is that in these cases (like MJF most likely) that if he ends up getting them it looks like he signed people WWE had interest in.

While FTR have decided to stay with AEW until they retire, MJF continues to tease the bidding war of 2024 for when his contract with AEW expires.
