NOAH’s Go Shiozaki Returns From Injury
While newbie and outsider Jake Lee presently holds the GHC Heavyweight Championship, Pro Wrestling NOAH just welcomed back an emerald ring legend.
Former GHC Heavyweight Champion Go Shiozaki returned to the promotion before Sunday’s title main event in Sendai, his first appearance in a NOAH ring since September of last year, when he took time away to rehab a possible shoulder injury. Shiozaki’s next match is already set for May 4th at Ryogoku Sumo Hall. He’ll pair up with Kaito Kiyomiya and Yoshiki Inamura to take on Kenoh, Katsuhiko Nakajima, and Manabu Soya of KONGO.
Shiozaki returns to the business just in time for NOAH to partner up with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling for a co-promoted event, All Together Again, on June 9th, the first event of its kind since the last All Together show in 2012. Shiozaki was absent not only from the most recent NJPW vs. NOAH edition of Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Yokohama Arena, but also from the retirement matches of his former opponent Keiji Muto, who retired The Great Muta in January, and Muto’s own retirement in February.
The announcement was made at the same event that NOAH icon Naomichi Marufuji challenged GHC Heavyweight Champion Jake Lee following Lee’s successful defense against Katsuhiko Nakajima. Marufuji and Lee will square off at the same Sumo Hall show on May 4th that will host Shiozaki’s comeback. The show will be available via Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Wrestle Universe streaming service.
